Club Profile and Activity Report
The BIS Standard Club at Shri K.J. Polytechnic, Bharuch aims to promote quality consciousness among diploma engineering students and familiarize them with the role of the Bureau of Indian Standards in nation-building. The club focuses on:
Creating awareness about Indian Standards (IS) and their applications in engineering.
Training students to verify product authenticity using BIS digital tools such as the BIS Care App.
Encouraging a "Quality First" approach in all engineering projects and practices.
Bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industrial standardization.
Utilizing BIS educational resources including the BIS YouTube Channel and "Standards Watch" episodes
BIS YouTube Channel and Educational Resources
As part of the BIS Standard Club activities, students were introduced to the official BIS YouTube Channel, which serves as a valuable educational resource for understanding Indian Standards, quality certifications, and standardization processes.
The "Standards Watch" video series by BIS was screened during the awareness session, helping students understand complex standards through simplified visual storytelling. Students were encouraged to subscribe to the channel and regularly explore the educational content for continuous learning.
Meetings and Coordination
The BIS Standard Club coordinates with the Bureau of Indian Standards (Surat Branch Office) for all club activities. Formal intimation is sent before each event, and comprehensive reports with photographs and attendance are submitted after completion.
Inter-departmental Coordination
The Environmental Engineering Department, under the initiative of Mrs. Jini Sunilkumar (I/C HOD), formally requested inclusion of five 3rd semester students into the BIS Standard Club. The request (Ref: KJP/ENV/25/1321, dated 21-08-2025) was approved by the Principal and the students were successfully added to the club membership.
